Gastric bypass very much advances the worth of life not only because of its enhancement in appearance and a raise in mobility, as well as it can reduce the number rigorousness of health problems that is caused by obese people. They are prone to experience, health problems such as diabetes and heart/circulation problems Gastric bypass procedure is complex and the reason why it is done under general anesthesia. The time allocated for this surgery is between one to four hours. There are two techniques involved. Namely Roux-en-Y-gastric bypass and biliopancreatic diversion bypass. Gastric bypass surgery is a surgery performed on the stomach to make it smaller and allow food to bypass the small intestine. Every time you eat you feel satisfied faster then when you originally had not done a bypass. This way the intake of food is reduced as well as the calories you devour. These bypasses (Roux-en-Y-gastric bypass and biliopancreatic diversion bypass) cause you to have fewer calories taken in. all this is aimed at weight loss. The normally carried out gastric bypass surgery is the Roux-en-Y gastric bypass. All through digestion food passes through the stomach, to the small intestine (here most nutrients are absorbed as well as calories). Then it goes to the large intestine, there after the waste is expelled. The essence of a Roux-en-Y gastric bypass, is to make the stomach smaller and making a small pouch on the top of the stomach. The small stomach is then linked to the middle porting of the small intestine, there by bypassing the rest of the stomach and the upper portion of the small intestine. The procedure is carried out by making a large incision in the abdomen or a small incision with smaller instruments and with the use of a camera to direct the surgery. After a gastric bypass surgery, this will normally take three to five weeks for recovery of the individual to take place and may return to normal duties. There is a great change in the way you eat as you can only eat a few ounces of food in intervals. Eating is very gradual if not you may vomit and feel a lot of discomfort. Drink water only thirty minutes before and after you eating. You will also need to take vitamins and supplements as well. Avoid candy, juices, ice cream and soft drinks. Carrying out a gastric bypass has its risk no doubt. You could be at risk of osteoporosis. Gastric bypass in most cases cause brittle bone disease which is referred to as osteoporosis this was a new discovery by the Journal of Clinical Endocrinology and Metabolism. It is also associated with a deficiency in calcium and vitamin D which can cause bone loss and osteoporosis which has been seen in most studies.
